I grew up in Saratoga, CA, in a big, loving, Italian family. I started telling stories with paint on canvas and, as an art student in college, I found an audience for my original songs as a singer and guitarist... MORE
My music career in Hollywood led me to my husband-drummer and, as my lyrical themes became more elaborate and too wordy for our bands’ recordings, I penned a series of short stories and found the art form of fiction liberating. But it was our teenage daughters who inspired my favorite voice as a storyteller in Young Adult fiction.
I became a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and after I submitted my second YA sci-fantasy novel, The Memory Arcade, to select agents, an agent at Andrea Brown Literary Agency invited me to attend the Big Sur Children’s Writing Workshop. The invaluable praise and critiques from the talented agents, editors, and authors at the event were inspirational, and attending SCBWI events helps me keep up on publishing trends.
I’m currently seeking representation for my newest YA sci-fi novel, BLUE SKY ECHO. In addition, I’m having a blast working on the second novel in a proposed trilogy, as well as a standalone YA paranormal thriller. When I’m not writing and reading into the early-morning hours, I’m in my studio working on my new album, doing yoga, drawing, or cooking massive amounts of pasta for my family and friends.
